How To Stay Fit All Summer Long!

Bikini season is not around the corner, it's HERE! We've all worked hard in the gym and said no to chocolate too many times, it's time to enjoy the fruits of our labor...and keep it like that until September rolls in (when we have THE best tan for taking pictures, am I right?;)). How to keep 'the summer bod' and stay fit all summer long, you ask? Here are some of my favorite tips to do just that!

MOVE your body girl!

Just how Nina Sky sings it, moooove that bod! Whether you're frolicking on a beach in the French Riviera, sippin' cocktails in Ibiza, or enjoying the mountain air on the crystal Lake Louise, find a way to incorporate some movement in your daily routine. Swimming, cycling, hiking, kayaking, water sports...there are SO MANY OPTIONS girl, you really cannot make an excuse! There's no need to spend hours killing yourself in the gym; take your workout outside and make it a part of your day!

Drink plenty of water!

This tip is as old as the Bible and the reason why it's never been debunked, is because it's 100% true. During summer, we sweat more than usual, so we easily get dehydrated without even knowing it. Keep a bottle of water next to you at all times and sip throughout the day. Water flushes out all the toxins, while at the same time keeping all of our cells working at optimal levels! If you're like me, and drinking plain old water gets booooring, add some sliced fruit to it, or drop in some water concentrates, like these ones from Sakara Life, which also contain trace minerals to keep your skin glowing and body detoxed!

* Bonus tip: Add even more water to your daily intake if you're drinking alcohol and/or coffee. They both dehydrate the body tremendously!

Eat the rainbow!

One more cliché saying, I know, but honestly, all these tips are the Holy Grail when it comes to staying healthy and fit. Summer calls for light, cold and refreshing meals such as salads, fresh fruit, smoothie bowls, fish and leafy greens - nothing too heavy, too greasy or hot. Fuel yourself with loads of colors, and therefore, different vitamins & minerals. Choose foods high in water, so that you stay on that hydrating train!

Pack healthy snacks!

Barbecue here, cocktail party there, all day on the beach shenanigans...they all involve lots of food, and most of the times you can't control the ingredient list. Instead of going all crazy and thinking "oh great, one more day I'm falling of the wagon", pack some healthy snacks with you and opt for those instead of chicken wings, frozen pops & corn on the cob. I'm not saying you shouldn't eat those foods, I'm just letting you know you always have an option, even when it comes to eating at a friend's house or a group gathering. My favorite snacks are nuts, seeds, fruit, and healthy nut & protein bars. Small, but substantial; packed with healthy fats, protein and fiber to keep you fuller for longer and bring your energy levels up :)

Enjoy your Holiday!

At the end of the day, it's your holiday! You worked so hard all year, and now is the time to actually enjoy it! Read a book, lizard your way under the sun, eat nourishing and amazing food, spend time with family & friends, stay out late, dance, sleep in, laugh...and create some wonderful memories. It's important you realize how a few scoops of ice cream won't kill your progress, and as long as you're moving your body, drinking plenty of water, and eating nourishing foods, you'll have no problem staying fit and healthy all summer long!

Xx,

Karla
